Julie Beedon

Julie loves being creative and enjoys working with people and facilitating events - the larger the better!

She is enthusiastic, loves theories and models, concepts and principles and enjoys a healthy debate about why they work.

She likes nothing more than when a Design Team says, "That won't work" and when together they design something new.

Julie divides her time between three activities:

  • Consulting
  • Researching
  • Networking

When consulting design work is her favourite. She has a wealth of ideas and possibilities (some of which may be off the wall) but it's great to get them out and then discount them.

Facilitation - Julie happily facilitates events where she has been involved in the design process. She takes advice from the design team for what will, and what will not work, with the people attending the event. She facilitates dialogues between groups of people that range in size from 20 to 2,000.

Coaching - this has many strands. It could be internal facilitators/OD consultants who want to facilitate an event and in this instance Julie will prepare scripts, rehearse with them, and be on hand to give tips and advice. Or it could be coaching with leaders of organisations, especially who are embarking on a change programme and want to involve their organisation.

Research and Writing - Julie always has something on the go! She happily writes papers, fact-sheets, book chapters and contributes to many research and writing projects. She is currently in collaboration with Dick Axelrod, Robert Jacobs, and a host of other consultants writing a Theory Book and a Fieldbook on the principles of Large Group Engagement.

Networking - Julie can often be described as a 'people tart'. She loves to network, meet people, chat through theories and conceptual models. The more people push back and test her theories, the more engaged Julie becomes.
